With the recent release of Bunkspeed 2014 Beta, and the inclusion of the latest release of Nvidia iray, a new render mode, “Fast” has been added to the two currently available render modes: “raster” which is now called Preview, and “iray”, which is now called Accurate. The iray Fast render mode is fully optimized to take maximum advantage of the CUDA cores found on a single Nvidia gpu. Where iray Accurate is a consistent renderer that continues to improve in quality over time, and offers the best in all rendering scenarios without settings, iray “Fast” is set to finish after 100 passes so you know when the render is done, and gets to a finished quality in seconds. For product and car rendering scenarios for example, the new fast mode is fantastic.
The Corvette images below all completed in about 10 seconds at HD 1920×1080 on a single graphics card. Accurate render mode is linearly scalable with additional GPU’s, whereas the Fast render mode does not benefit from multiple GPU’s, it works well on one graphic card to provide fantastic interactive performance and final rendered images in seconds. The new Fast render mode is:
- Perfectly suited for rendering car exteriors, industrial designer products, architectural exteriors
- Fast on single graphic card. A Fermi or Kepler card, Quadro or GeForce will provide great performance with HD renders in seconds.
- Biased renderer that finishes to completion after 100 passes.
The Corvette image on our homepage was rendered to 58 megapixels in just three and half minutes on a single gpu.

RDSV – Rapid Deployment Snow Vehicle.
How it was accomplished:
RDSV was modeled entirely in Rhinoceros. All renderings were created using Bunkspeed Shot. Two separate BIFs were used, one for the shiny clean studio shots and another one for the dirty, worn out action shots. All post processing was done in Photoshop.
This was strictly a personal project, just for the fun of it.
He has been using Bunkspeed rendering products since the days of Hypershot, then in 2011, moved to Bunkspeed Shot.
“It has been a fundamental tool for me in College… it allowed me to visualize and show ideas to others in very fast ways. As a tool, it increased the quality of my work and minimized the time it took me to get it done. It is now a permanent addition to my workflow.” – Says Juan
The RDSV is a 2 seater high speed vehicle for use in any polar environment. It would aptly serve polar exploration, rescue missions, medical emergencies or even sport applications, basically anything that requires high speeds over rough terrain or long distances. The whole idea started with the traction system, something that could allow high speeds across Antarctica but could also climb up a mountain for an avalanche rescue operation. Then the whole vehicle was built around it.
RDSV features an adaptive traction system that allows for an effective displacement over both ice/hard snow or deep snow. Each wheel is made up by twelve individual units, each with two different paddles: a small one (for hard surfaces) and a big one (for deep snow). Depending on the terrain, each unit rotates accordingly to expose the desired paddle.
The current paradigm for snow vehicles states: “Simple Traction at the rear, two skids at the front”. RDSV inverts this paradigm to achieve more traction, improving deep snow performance and displacement in sloped terrain.
The vehicle also features a universal docking system and solar panel at the top. This allows the addition of multiple accessories from ski & snowboard cages to radars and other sensors. It can also be adapted to hold an injured person in the back.

The Portland, Ore., firm’s latest goal is to create a hyper-aerodynamic bike capable of setting a new land speed record. Constant improvements and refinements of every aspect of the motorcycle will get them there.
This builds upon a history of winning some of the most prestigious races for electric-drive and conventional motorcycles three years in a row.
The Quadro GPU lets MotoCzysz use SolidWorks to see every detail of a bike, without lag, and tweak the design as needed. Meanwhile, the Tesla GPU processes ray-tracing from Bunkspeed Pro and performs all the rendering and simulations in the background.

We just got back from a very exciting 2013 Nvidia GTC conference. Some of our very best friends were there presenting how they use Bunkspeed in their workflow. Fascinating presentations explained how Bunkspeed software is used to quickly produce super high quality visualization, speeding up their business.
Overall, Bunkspeed and Nvidia’s GPUs have enabled Nike to not only come up with more creative shoes over the years but to do it more quickly, cheaply, and to produce more of them every year with a shorter development than ever before.

Recently there seems to be an abundance of “teaser” videos released by the automotive companies to raise awareness and build anticipation in the media. Teasers have been used for years for movies, television shows and for video games. As computer generated imagery and animation in the automotive world becomes mainstream, more and more uses of pre-release CAD data is being used for content to publish in the social media and the web. It’s impossible to tell what’s real and what’s computer generated these days and it’s evidence is shown in some of these examples. We have driving in the desert teasers, dark teasers, unveiling teasers, interview teasers and even video game teasers. It definitely looks like this trend will continue to grow.
For the first time in 5 years, we’ve overhauled our website.
